Choosing and Renting a Storage Unit
What storage unit sizes do you offer?
Our indoor storage units range from approximately 20 sq ft up to 150 sq ft, giving you options for anything from a small number of belongings to larger household contents or business stock.
How do I know what size storage unit I need?
Tell us what you plan to store and our team can help you choose an appropriate unit size. You can also select “Not sure” when requesting a quote and we will help you work out how much space you are likely to need.
What is the minimum rental period?
The minimum rental period for indoor self storage is 4 weeks. After that, you can continue storing for as long as you need.
Can I reserve a storage unit online?
Yes. Available storage units can be viewed and reserved online through our secure booking portal. If you would rather speak to someone first, contact our local team or request a quote.
Storage Costs and Payment
How much does self storage cost?
Indoor self storage starts from £7.50 per week. The exact price depends on the size of the unit and current availability.

How often do I pay for my storage unit?
Storage charges are paid by card in advance every 4 weeks. A receipt is provided for each payment.
Are there any long-term contracts for indoor storage?
Indoor storage has a minimum rental period of 4 weeks. After the minimum period, you can continue using the unit for as long as you require and give notice when you are ready to leave.
Keeping Your Belongings Secure
How secure are the storage units?
Our indoor storage facility is supported by CCTV coverage and alarm systems. Storage units are individually secured, helping provide a secure environment for your belongings.
What are the normal storage access times?
Standard access is Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm. Saturday access can be arranged in advance.
After-hours access is normally limited to emergencies and must be arranged with us beforehand.
Do I have my own lock?
Indoor units are individually secured. Our team can explain the locking arrangements when you book your unit or move in.
What You Can Store
What can I keep in a self storage unit?
Storage units can be used for most household and business items, including furniture, boxes, personal belongings, business stock, tools, equipment, documents and seasonal items.
What items are not allowed in storage?
Items that are illegal, dangerous, hazardous, perishable or otherwise unsuitable for self storage must not be kept in your unit. Live animals are also not permitted.
If you are unsure whether a particular item can be stored, contact us before bringing it to the facility.
Can businesses use your storage units?
Yes. Our units are suitable for many business uses, including stock, tools, equipment, documents and seasonal items.
Insurance and Changing Your Unit
Do my belongings need to be insured?
Your belongings should have suitable insurance cover while they are in storage. Speak to our team about the available options or check whether your own policy provides appropriate self storage cover.
Can I move to a larger or smaller unit?
Yes. If your storage requirements change, we can help you move to a larger or smaller unit, subject to current availability.
Ending Your Storage Rental
How much notice do I need to give when leaving?
After the minimum rental period, simply give us 7 days’ notice when you are ready to leave your indoor storage unit.
What do I need to do before moving out?
Remove all of your belongings and leave the unit empty and tidy. Contact our team if you need any guidance about your move-out date or final payment.
Caravan Storage Questions
Do you provide caravan storage?
Yes. We provide dedicated outdoor caravan storage at our Penygroes facility, with allocated plots and controlled site access.
How long is the caravan storage contract?
Caravan storage is offered on an annual contract only. Availability depends on the number of plots currently available.

Where is your self storage facility located?
Lock Up Self Storage is based on Penygroes Industrial Estate in Penygroes, Gwynedd, near Caernarfon.
The facility is conveniently located for customers travelling from Caernarfon, Porthmadog, Pwllheli, Bangor, Anglesey and surrounding areas of North Wales.
